With great sadness we report that our good friend, comrade and small park BIG RUN supporter, Graham Birkin, died peacefully, with his family by his side on July 7th after a long illness.
Graham was an educator and also a great encourager, helping people express themselves and tell their story; he welcomed people from everywhere into his life, and would do his best to help them, as an equal.
He was also a great fighter for justice, right until the end and we are proud that his last political act, in the face of great physical difficulty, was to stand with Palestine, supporting small park BIG RUN.
Graham loved the run. It is exactly what he was about – all manner of people coming together and cooperating to get something done. We will miss him.
If you would like to make a charitable donation in Graham’s name, his wish was for any funds raised after his death to go to the following charities:
Freedom From Torture
Sheffield Palestinian Solidarity Campaign
