Children’s healing project in Gaza

A group game at the Never Stop Dreaming Centre, partners in the Healing Project

Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign has supported several children’s educational and play projects in Gaza. We have found great partners in Gaza to ensure we sponsor secular projects where young girls and boys to play together.

Using funds raised by the Yemeni Women’s Association in Sheffield, we have partnered with the Never Stop Dreaming Centre and Middle East Children’s Alliance to build the Children’s Play and Healing Centre for children to play and, over time, have access to therapeutic sessions to help in overcoming the traumatic after-effects of war. Read more about the healing centre here

Funds are required to keep the centre running.

University education for Palestinian women

“University has opened up new horizons in my life and introduced me to a whole world of knowledge, friendship and enjoyment. Being a student has also given me greater self-confidence.  I’m more able to express myself and to talk about my experiences and my ambition has grown. I’m a lot stronger psychologically, culturally, financially and educationally. I am grateful to the Sheffield women’s group for giving me this opportunity to learn and to prove that I can take responsibility for myself and my family.”
Israa Abed, studying at Faculty of Medical Sciences at Al-Azhar University.

Sheffield Palestine Women’s Scholarship Fund supports Palestinian women in Gaza to enter higher education through a yearly scholarship. It was set up in 2007 and currently supports 65 Palestinian women in the Gaza Strip by paying their university entrance fees. Due to some very large donations received recently, SPWSF is looking to expand its activities to support women in the West Bank as well as in Gaza.

Whilst based in Sheffield it has supporters across the UK, in particular in Bolton and Saddleworth.

One year’s university fees is around £300.
